Stages of Grief
People tend to go through a series of states to process grief, such as terminal health diagnosis or the death of a loved one. Understanding this process can help you manage your own grief by recognizing that you must go through these states and working towards acceptance and may also help you assist others in processing their grief.
The five stages of grief are:
- Denial: In the first stage of the grief process, a person may deny the facts causing them grief.
- Anger: After accepting the reality of the situation, an individual typically experiences anger at what they perceive as the unfairness of the situation.
