Cluster A Personality Disorders
Cluster A includes odd or eccentric personality disorders such as acute discomfort in close relationships, cognitive or perceptual distortions, and eccentricities of behavior. These disorders can involve paranoia and difficulty being understood by others.
Cluster A personality disorder types include:
- Paranoid: “irrational suspicion and mistrust of others, interpreting motivations as malevolent.”
- Schizoid: “exhibiting a cold affect and detachment from social relationships, apathy, and restricted emotional expression.”
- Schizotypal: “pattern of extreme discomfort interacting socially, and distorted cognition and perceptions.”
